Things to do in Trivandrum

Trivandrum means ‘the place of the sacred serpent’ and takes its name from the idol of Lord Vishnu in the city’s magnificent wooden 16th Century Padmanabhaswamy temple. This sprawling city is built on seven hills.
The coastal village of Kovalam, just 10km south of Trivandrum, was one of the first hippy resorts in the sixties, and its tropical beaches and laid-back ambience still draw plenty of visitors.
The resort can arrange both day trips and extended tours in the surrounding areas. These can include trips through the idyllic countryside (lagoons, rivers and lakes behind the coastline) and India’s South Cape, Kanyakumari.
