"...a beautiful mix of past and present, home to suite 608 featured in Sleepless in Seattle..."
The Sorrento is Seattle’s oldest operating luxury hotel and pioneered the fashion for boutique, luxury hotels occupying well-loved city landmarks. Dating back to 1908, the Sorrento was designed to look like an Italian villa with a dramatic circular driveway around a palm-fringed fountain. Sitting high on First Hill, the hotel overlooks Downtown and Elliott Bay.
All 76 guestrooms and suites have traditional furnishings and personalities, and each is well equipped for the leisure and business traveller, with the Penthouse Suite as the perfect location for at-home entertaining.
Encapsulating the Northwest spirit, the Sorrento is very much in the present, but grounded in the time-honoured pleasures of the past.
Luxury Hotel Facilities
Guests are invited to relax and unwind in the Nautilus fitness centre. Or for those wishing to be pampered, the Nordstrom Spa is situated seven blocks from the hotel and the Sorrento concierge are happy to assist in booking treatments.
Yasuo Mori is located on the first floor of the Sorrento hotel and invites guests to experience the historical Japanese massage technique of Shiatsu. Mr Mori has practised the traditional art in Seattle since 1978, restoring the body, mind and spirit to its natural state of balance, while alleviating stress, fatigue and muscle aches.
The Hunt Club, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, holds a long list of awards as the best in the entire Northwest. Creative cuisine also highlights the adjacent Fireside room, as its whimsically vertical appetisers make way for cocktails, laptops, cards and board games on the tables.
Room Options
The hotel boasts 76 guestrooms and suites, which all have traditional furnishings and provide creature comforts.
The Italian marble bathrooms are equipped with 100% Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobe, a state-of-the-art shower head and hand-milled soap.
Amenities in all guestrooms include DirectTV with movie channels, JVC sound system with ten digital satellite stations and 3-disc CD changer, cordless dual-line telephones with individual phone numbers, direct high-speed internet access, combined fax, scanner, colour copier and printer with individual phone numbers in each room.
Guests can choose from the 34 deluxe rooms, all featuring a work desk and chair, full-length mirror and sitting chair.
The unique Suite 608 was featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle. For the ultimate in luxury, the Penthouse suite is 1,850 square feet and features one king-size bed in the master bedroom with a large master marble bathroom, with separate double vanity sinks. The living area features a wood-burning fireplace, baby grand piano, outdoor terrace with jacuzzi overlooking the Seattle skyline as well as library sitting room.
Dining at Sorrento Hotel
The Hunt Club, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant holds a long list of awards as the best in the Northwest. Brian Scheehser, executive chef, has evolved the renowned restaurant’s menu to reflect his artisan style, offering Pacific Northwest-style cuisine with a Mediterranean influence, in a welcoming and lush environment.
Creative cuisine is on offer at the adjacent Fireside room, which undergoes dramatic transformation each day, from a traditional tea-room to an evening gathering place.
Business Facilities
The Sorrento will ensure a relaxing, enjoyable and productive stay. All guestrooms are furnished with a comfortable desk, dual-line cordless telephones with voice mail, complimentary CAT 5 high-speed internet access and a fax machine / scanner / printer / colour copier with dedicated fax number.
The Sorrento Room is a warm and refined venue, ideal for business functions, focus groups and private parties. Things to do in Seattle
For those with only a single day for sightseeing, focus your energy on the waterfront and downtown Seattle - the heart of the business, shopping and entertainment district.
Visit Pike Place Market and read the hundreds of names etched into the floor tiles as you wander among stalls selling fresh seafood, produce, cheese, Northwest wines, bulk spices, tea, coffee and arts and crafts.
A walk through Pioneer Square and the International District provides a glimpse into the early city, as it appeared when it was rebuilt after the Great Fire in 1889. Encompassing approximately 18 blocks, the district is home to restaurants, bars, shops and the city’s largest concentration of art galleries.
For those with a little more time, hop on a plane that lands on the sea for unforgettable views of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands or catch a late-afternoon ferry heading west, where you will get unobstructed views of the snow-capped Olympics silhouetted against the setting sun, with a return trip with views towards Seattle’s skyline.
Getting to Sorrento Hotel
The Sorrento is located approximately 15 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
