The hotel's building dates from 1911 and was originally the Denver Tramway offices; the impressive exterior is reminiscent of Chicago office buildings of the time.

The renovation and refurbishment in 1997 preserved as much of the historic detail as possible including the beautiful marble in the entrance, all from various quarries around the US. The theme acquired from the nearby Denver Centre for Performing Arts uses costumes, props and photographs from previous productions to decorate the public areas and guest rooms.

Room Options

There are 111 guest rooms at Hotel Teatro including six junior suites, the Chancellor’s Suite and The Apartment. All the rooms feature Indonesian sandstone foyers, custom built cherrywood armoires and headboards, damask fabrics and fine bed linens. Rooms are all equipped with printer, scanner, copier and fax facilities. There are two telephone lines with voicemail and dedicated data ports. The luxurious bathrooms feature Indonesian marble and sandstone finishes with chrome fittings and Aveda bath products. The Junior suites generally have mountain views and consist of two rooms with ensuite bathrooms and plush sofa bed. The Apartment at hotel Teatro is an intimate luxury suite with magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains, fully equipped kitchen, a dining table seating up to eight guests and a living area.

The Hotel Teatro operates two restaurants and 24-hour room service all overseen by the award winning chef Kevin Taylor; Prima is casual and modern serving healthy meals and snacks, Restaurant Kevin Taylor is more formal and considered to be one of Denver’s finest restaurants boasting an impressive 5 000 bottle wine cellar. The décor in Restaurant Kevin Taylor is an opulent blend of Parisian elegance and fashionable sophistication just like the menu which manages to successfully combine traditional French cuisine with American contemporary dishes. For example starters might include seared French fois gras with toasted brioche or open ravioli of Maine lobster, asparagus and sweetcorn; a main course might be roasted pave of Atlantic salmon or seared (rare) sliced sushi tuna – just a tiny sample of the mouth-watering dishes on the menu. The restaurant has received the AAA Four Diamond Award and Wine Spectator’s “Best Award of Excellence”.
Prima is Kevin Taylor’s newest restaurant open from 7am to 11pm daily providing breakfast, lunch, tea, pre-theatre and post-theatre meals and snacks. The cuisine is generally modern Italian in style featuring lighter meals using fresh ingredients. The décor in Prima is dramatic with 18 ft ceilings, black granite bar, mocha leather chairs and dramatic Italian opera prints creating an informal but interesting venue. A lunch menu is comprised of a selection of fresh grilled meats and fish, pasta, salads and soups using delicious local ingredients dressed with Italian olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Business Facilities

The Hotel Teatro offers flexible, sophisticated space for meetings and events whether it’s a formal board meeting for 12 guests or a reception for 100. The excellent chef Kevin Taylor, who gives every event his special touch, oversees the catering. The Chancellor Suite provides the ideal venue for board meetings or receptions for 20 to 50 guests with the elegant wood panelled rooms and custom designed furnishings including original artwork and floor to ceiling views of the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak. For larger gatherings the Terrace, which can accommodate up to 100 guests, is ideal with high vaulted ceilings, plenty of natural light and state of the art technology. Things to do in Denver

Hotel Teatro is ideally placed for trips to the theatre, galleries and shops and within walking distance of the Convention Centre, Pepsi Centre, Coors Field and the popular LoDo entertainment district. City tours explore Denver’s exciting western past (Buffalo Bill is buried nearby), the US Mint and State Capitol, all set against the dramatic Rocky Mountain skyline. The cog railway up to Pike’s Peak climbs 14,110 feet to the summit offering spectacular views over the city and mountains, definitely worth the 3.5 hour trip.

Denver International Airport (DEN) is about 15 miles northeast of downtown. Snow may affect journey times during the winter. A taxi from the airport into town costs around $45 - $55, there is also a bus service called the Super Shuttle.
