Extensive renovations at Hotel Brunelleschi
Hotel Brunelleschi, member of Great Hotels of the World's Luxury Collection, has recently completed extensive renovations. The works have brought to light the unique stylistic features of the hotel’s historic buildings which date back to the first century AD, including the remains of a Roman caldarium and a Byzantine tower. The rooms and common areas now have a more classic feel, using white and grey to better reflect the Florentine Renaissance. Florentine antiques and modern furniture - including the hotel’s new pietra serena fireplace - have been added to create a unique atmosphere.
Furthermore, the hall has been completely renovated. Still preserving the stone walls and coffered ceiling, a classic reception counter has been inserted that draws comparisons with a traditional studded black leather casket. Other furnishings include panelling with the shields of powerful Florentine families, large 18th century terracotta vases, new sofas and armchairs, and a Venetian mirror. Other rooms benefitting from the renovations include the hotel’s renowned Santa Elisabetta restaurant and the breakfast hall.
