The Capital Restaurant makes The Sunday Times Top 100 Best British Restaurants

Great Hotels of the World is delighted to announce that The Capital Hotel Restaurant has made The Sunday Times’ Top 100 Best British Restaurants, ranking at an impressive number 32. The restaurant has added Chef Jerome Ponchelle to the already impressive line up of chefs which include Brian Turner and Gary Rhodes. Menu items encompass “the classics of British fine dining”, said The Times. These include delicacies such as, roast grouse “Old England” with braised cabbage and Dover sole meunière and roast turbot.

Monsignor Della Casa Country Resort and Spa, Italy awarded ‘Most Excellent Charming Hotel’ of Europe and the Mediterranean

Hotel Jardim Atlantico, Portugal wins two Environmental Awards

Great Hotels of the World is delighted to announce that The Hotel Jardim Atlântico in Madeira, Portugal has been awarded with two environmental awards. Tour operator World of Tui awarded the hotel second place worldwide among a selection of 10,000 hotels. The hotel achieved further recognition as the winner of the 2010 EU Ecolabel Communication Award, recognising the exceptional promotional activity hotels give to increase public awareness for environmentally-friendly services amongst hotel guests, the team and the local community. Nature walks, nature friendly sports such as canyoning, scuba diving and bird-watching as well as retaining a Vital Centre with natural treatments, enables the hotel to gain great strength in integrating itself with the environment.

Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque, Tenerife welcomes physiotherapist to the stars

Great Hotels of the World member Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque recently introduced Michal Novotny, physiotherapist to the Davis Cup team for the last ten years, to their Spa. Novotny has opened his own clinic at the Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque Spa and treats a wide range of celebrity clients including Maria Sharapova, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Rafa Nadal. This means that international clients will not only be travelling to the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque, but the hotel guests too will be given the opportunity to book Novotny's services.

Hotel Casa 400, Amsterdam wins Hotel Concept of the Year

Continental Hotel Zara **** Superior, Hungary wins Best Hotel Development of the Year

Great Hotels of the World member, Continental Hotel Zara **** Superior in Budapest was awarded the prestigious ‘Hotel Development of the Year’ award at the Construction and Investment Journal Awards 2010. The award recognised the hotel as operating at the main area of the real estate business and awarded it on the basis that the Continental Hotel Zara made the best improvements to their hotel.

Quay Hotel and Spa, Wales wins the Visit Wales 4 Star Gold Award for the 5th Consecutive Year

Great Hotels of the World is pleased to announce that the Quay Hotel and Spa in Conwy has been awarded the Visit Wales 4 Star Gold Award for the fifth year running. The Quay Hotel met The Gold Award’s criteria, demonstrating outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and hospitality in the serviced sector in Wales. Only 4% of hotels and guest houses achieve the award.
