This story is part of our 'Travelling with Kids' series, featuring tales from luxury hotel guests which were sent in for our recent travel writing competition.
One too many episodes of Mayday on TLC, has made me a nervous flyer. I have watched dozens of plane crash dissections. When my 2 year old got on a plane she had some interesting remarks (much to my dismay and also my fellow passengers). We just gritted our teeth and shot out an uneasy smile.
For example she was reviewing the emergency procedure card and said rather loudly, "Mom, why is the plane in the water?" "Do we get to land in the water?" Then upon take off she says, "Hey alright....the plane is tipping!!!!" Then up in the air at cruising altitude I am hoping that she will just take a nap. She asks, "Mom why isn't the plane moving now"?
After a few more hours and a few more quips we are finally ready to land. It is night time over the city of Toronto with twinkling city light and she says, "WOW look at the fireworks"!!!
I can't wait to land.
