I awoke in my gorgeous hotel suite in Jamaica where my boyfriend, Matthew and I were holidaying. Having been there for nearly a week already, we were both perfectly relaxed and couldn't wait to make our way down to the restaurant for a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits and cooked meats. We spent the morning lounging by the pool and sipping on cocktails. The air was full of the scent of coconut and the sound of reggae music. At lunchtime Matthew told me he had some surprises for me and the first one was a private boat trip to a local waterfall which spilled out into the ocean.

As we walked into the water, we could feel the warm Caribbean Sea around our legs and icy cold fresh water around our torsos. This was truly surprising to us and felt so magical. We took so much enjoyment from climbing the waterfall and played in the pools like children before having to return to the boat.

Upon returning to the resort, we visited the spa and experienced the second surprise of the day, an amazing couple’s massage. The therapists turned the lights down, lit candles and put calming background music on and left us to lay down on the massage beds. They re-entered the treatment room silently, and in time to the music, they began to massage us simultaneously. It was the most wonderful massage we have ever experienced and we both left that room feeling more relaxed than ever. We returned to the pool for the rest of the afternoon before retiring to our suite to get ready for our evening meal.

We both enjoyed dressing up and this time was no exception, we made our way down to the cocktail bar for some pre-dinner drinks and then Matthew began to complain about his contact lenses irritating his eyes and asked that we returned to the room so he could change them. I didn't see the point of us both going but he asked so nicely that I couldn't say no. As we opened our front door, I knew immediately that something was going on as music was playing and the balcony was open. As I stepped outside there was Matthew beaming at me surrounded by beautiful flowers, glistening candles and a table laid for two.

As we sat down, our very own private butler entered the room and poured us champagne and proceeded to bring us a beautiful three course meal. As the main course arrived, Matt got down on one knee and told me how much he loved me and asked if I would marry him. My heart skipped a beat, the excitement was all too much and as the tears welled up in my eyes, I held his hands and said yes! This was the best meal of my life and the best surprise of the day. And as we finished our meal overlooking the Caribbean Sea we felt more in love than ever.
