Shimmering turquoise sea, breathtaking sunsets, white-washed villages and ancient churches – Mykonos is renowned for its timeless beauty. Dionysos Hotel is located on Ornos – one of the island’s quieter beaches, near the vibrant hub of Mykonos town.

Designed in a traditional Cycladic style in keeping with the island atmosphere, Dionysos has been welcoming guests to Mykonos for many years.

Luxury is everywhere – from the tranquil pool surrounded by comfortable loungers, to the numerous areas set aside for simply relaxing and enjoying the languid summer days. Here your every need is taken care of by the ever-attentive staff. A fresh fruit cocktail brought to your lounger, a delicious meal served on your terrace – here all your needs are taken care of.

We settled in to our Superior Room, which had a spacious balcony and handcrafted furniture, as well as a beautiful bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, and then set off to explore. Mykonos is an island of romance – the stunning views of the seemingly endless blue sea stretching to the horizon, beautiful beaches and quaint tavernas, not to mention the famous nightlife. We spent a lot of time on the beaches – Super Paradise and Paradise being two of our favourites. We took a tour to the nearby island of Delos to see the ancient ruins, a fascinating glimpse into Greece’s glorious past.

One of my favourite days was spent on a glass-bottomed boat – we took a cruise around the coastline and marvelled at the beauty of the underwater world, jumping in for a refreshing dip whenever it got too hot. We stopped at deserted beaches and pretty coves, and enjoyed a picnic provided by the hotel staff. It was an experience that I will remember forever.

Back at the hotel, we enjoyed a candlelit dinner in complete privacy and a few delicious cocktails by the pool. I had a wonderful massage – the therapist will visit you in your room, so you can drift off into total relaxation. If you are looking for a unique destination for your wedding or honeymoon, look no further. Mykonos is breathtakingly beautiful and provides the perfect backdrop to your first holiday together.

The Greek islands are steeped in romance – beaches, olive groves, whitewashed churches and the ever-present blue of the shimmering sea paint a picture as timeless as its history. Mykonos is renowned as one of the most cosmopolitan of the islands, loved by many who return year after year. Imagine celebrating your wedding in a tiny, ancient church, followed by a sumptuous feast of traditional Greek dishes and wine laid on tables in the shade of the trees – unforgettable. The hotel can help you organise your dream island wedding and take care of all the arrangements.

If you are celebrating your honeymoon on Mykonos you will be spoilt for choice for activities – from horseriding along the beach to moonlit strolls, and lazy beach days to nearby island cruises. There are so many memories to be made. The hotel will give any guests celebrating their honeymoon a free room upgrade, subject to availability. Beaches, beaches and more beaches – our break in Mykonos was spent lazing on the sand, soaking up the sun, swimming in the pristine sea, and enjoying Greece’s famous hospitality.

We spent an afternoon checking out the designer boutiques of Matogianni Street, and bought some presents for friends back home. We also explored the Archeological Museum and the Navy Museum during our stay, and learned a lot about the history of the region. We watched the sun set with a delicious cocktail at Little Venice, looking out over the boats to the horizon beyond – an unforgettable memory to cherish long after we returned.

After dark we sampled the many delights of Mykonos town – from traditional tavernas to sophisticated nightclubs, this island really has it all.
