Ocean Bay Hotel has been referred to as a ‘garden resort’ – a humble way of describing this tropical paradise. Swaying palm trees, lush greenery and breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the gorgeous Gambia River immediately proved that we’d picked a place of true beachside luxury for our holiday in the sun.
Set in the very heart of Cape Point’s coastal district, our romantic break could not have had a better backdrop. This is a place where traditional African art and culture meets stylish, contemporary and luxurious five-star facilities.
We opted for a deluxe room to really enjoy the comforts of the hotel during our stay, and we weren’t disappointed. Minimalist furnishings and all the amenities we needed to feel at home meant that we could truly relax. We had a spacious room, with views over the beautifully maintained gardens from our large private balcony. With plenty of attractions within walking distance as well as the fantastic sandy beach on our doorstep, we never ran out of fascinating things to do or places to explore.
Sumptuous buffets and set menus are served for breakfast and dinner, while the fine-dining Ocean Clipper offers delicious local and international dishes. The babysitting service meant that we could enjoy a few nights out without the kids.
Glorious sunshine, friendly staff and a lovely beach – what more could we wish for? Whether you like to sit back and relax with a chilled cocktail on the beach, or need to keep active at all times, the Ocean Bay Hotel has something for you. Together with its faultless facilities, this resort and its prime beachside location will not disappoint.
We loved being on the Atlantic Coast, taking a dip in the ocean for relief from the hot summer sun whenever we could and making the most of the miles of white-sand beach that stretched ahead of us. The palm trees and pristine gardens added to the exotic and tropical atmosphere.
As it was our first trip to the Gambia we wanted to explore the area. We took advantage of the excursions on offer; the bird-watching tour was our favourite, costing less than it would have if we’d booked it elsewhere and organised by real experts who knew their local wildlife.
I booked a heavenly massage treatment – there is no spa, but the therapists are great and there is something to be said for having a massage in the privacy of your own room – you can drift off into a blissful sleep and really make the most of the after-effects!
If animals are your thing, make sure you check out the Kachikally Crocodile Pool, and the Makasutu Forest Park – which is home to creatures that you won’t want to miss – ask the hotel for details on trips through the forest for a fun and informative day out. Facilities
