We booked Van der Valk Parkhotel Schloss Meisdorf for a group golf trip. As big fans of the sport, we decided to treat ourselves with a long weekend away full of golf and exploring the country. Little did we realise there would be so much to distract us. When we arrived, staff processed our reservations, showed us to our rooms and sorted out our rounds on the green without any problems. They let us check-in to our rooms early as we’d managed to arrive at the hotel in good time from the airport.
The rooms were perfect – spacious and comfortable, with great views over the castle, park and gardens. The maid service was without fault, and we were welcomed like we were valued guests.
We unpacked and headed to the bar for a relaxing drink. The golf course is 75 hectares of green, just across the street from the hotel, and it is only a two-minute walk to the first hole.
If you’re staying at the hotel you receive 20 per cent off green fees at a number of other courses in the area, so it’s well worth checking out your options. The golf course of Van der Valk Parkhotel Schloss Meisdorf is arguably the most beautiful in the region. Nestled in the Selketal, near the Roman road, it is home to lush, pristine greens. Whether you’re a beginner, advanced or professional, the course has something for everyone.
The course opened in 1997 and has a really competitive tournament calendar. We’re only beginners, but it’s such a great course we’ve already arranged to return – and have booked a session with the golf pro to work on our form.
The course has a great atmosphere for large groups, as well as being perfect for meeting other golfers. It was designed to merge seamlessly with the natural landscape, making the game even more relaxing.
There is a restaurant on the golf course with a spacious terrace – perfect for relaxing with a local beer after a satisfying game.
