Don't miss out on Thanksgiving...
by
Jill Dixon
Turkey-loving Americans who happen to be away from home for Thanksgiving are well catered for in London. With a wealth of restaurants with Yankee sympathies they won’t have to go without their traditional table-buckling feast.
American Thanksgiving falls on the 27th of November this year. For an authentic meal with a London twist, be sure to book well in advance at Christopher's Grill. Other reliable options include Smollensky’s and the Hard Rock Café which offers a Thanksgiving dinner for the hardcore traditionalists and the homesick alike.
Americans who find themselves in Canada for Thanksgiving are in a tricky situation as Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October. Canadians know how to do Thanksgiving and do it properly, but as with so many things, this is all about timing. In Toronto if you’re looking for a belly busting meal that ticks all the boxes, check out Fran’s Restaurant – it’s a local institution. Many four and five star hotel chains offer a traditional Thanksgiving meal no matter where you are. Ring ahead and make sure you book in advance.
If you’ve exhausted your options and fancy Turkey but no trimmings – Istanbul is said to be lovely in November! Straddling Asia and Europe you’ve got the best of both worlds.
