You have no idea how complicated it is to drive your own vehicle across borders in Central America. After a grueling crossing that took 6 hours, and involved bribes and giving one of the border crossing workers a lift, we finally saw Managua, Nicaragua ahead of us.
It seemed the air was roasting us, so we decided to treat ourselves to a nice hotel stopping at the only one we saw.
It was nice, especially after the dumps we had stayed in the nights before. This was heavenly, civilized, clean and cool. We dressed up a bit in our finest wrinkled clothes and went to dinner in the elegant hotel restaurant.
I needed to find the restroom, so I stopped at the desk where a very well dressed older gentleman stood waiting to the side. He was dressed in a suit, and his most outstanding feature was his huge bushy unibrows, which he wiggled at me, and then politely bowed. I turned away from his advance, and went on to find the restroom which was out by the pool. When I came out, he was waiting there for me, wiggling those eyebrows again. I was not too worried about my safety, as he was 5 ft tall and I am a hefty lady, at least 5ft 7. I hurriedly walked by him and back into the hotel lobby, but as I turned he was behind me. It was starting to creep me out. Nervously, I scurried back into the restaurant, and as I sat down with my husband I saw him peek into the restaurant and once again give me the wiggle!
I told my husband that "a man with eyebrows was following me ". Well of course this cracked him up, we laughed and forgot about it. Later during our meal we saw the man enter the restaurant with a woman on his arm, a very distinctive type of woman, with a lot of makeup. He was waiting at the front desk for his date! He thought I might be her. I bet he thought the agency was sending out some big old girls nowadays!
