With four and a half million people living in Houston, the dating scene can be a bit daunting. I had just met a gentleman and we had been out on the perfunctory dinner, movie and drinks dates. He knew I played golf and suggested a golf date at one of Houston’s many public courses.
Upon arriving and having our bags placed on a cart, we proceeded to hit the links. We were paired with two gentlemen and were getting along seemingly well when they asked if this was a first date. I’m still not sure how they figured we were still in the “getting to know you” stage.
The two we were paired with were hysterically funny, telling jokes and giving each other the what-for most of the game. We were on the back nine and we were all on the green but for some reason I was asked to move our cart. Still watching what was happening on the green, I pushed the cart pedal and for some reason never saw the tree I was about to careen into. Somehow I jumped out and the cart hit with such force that it echoed across the course. After the initial shock, we were all laughing so hysterically that we barely putted out. Unfortunately, the cart lost its steering due to the force of the impact. I used my cell phone to call and have a new cart delivered and they never really questioned why!
That wasn’t the last time we played golf together, but definitely the most interesting!
