Romantic Christmas Retreat in Germany

Christmas has to be one of the most romantic times of the year, with crackling warm fires for you and your partner to cuddle up in front of, and the chance to ice-skate together as you soak up the Christmas atmosphere. Every area of Germany offers something different leaving you spoilt for choice with a selection of markets and various other festive activities. Most of the German markets are open from early December to early January, giving you plenty of time to visit.

South

West

Grugapark is a beautiful area with wondrous trails and gardens which are home to countless species of wildlife, a brilliant sight in all weathers but particularly magical in the winter. When covered in a blanket of snow it is a beautiful place to take a romantic winter walk with your partner.

Lindau, located not far from Essen, also holds a wonderful market with a romantic wintery atmosphere. Silhouettes of alpine mountains fall across the lake, and the thousands of sparkling lights create a magical ambience.
