Before the plane touched down I peered out of the tiny window; the views of the picturesque island of Tenerife grew closer. Emerging from the airport, we were greeted by a winning combination of warm sunshine, clear blue sky and white fluffy clouds – what a beautiful location.
Get a flight into Tenerife South Airport, and it’s just a 15-minute taxi ride to Hotel Las Madrigueras. However, if you do end up flying into Tenerife North it’s a slightly longer transfer. But this way you’ll get a quick introduction to some of the island’s finest sights on your way to the hotel. We were immediately impressed by the colonial design of Hotel Las Madrigueras.
Within a matter of minutes, we were freshening up in our lavish Double Superior room. The room itself was perfect and came complete with wonderful views of the golf course and the aquatic play area. These rooms are massive (at 43sqm) – but if you want even more space, you can upgrade
to a suite.
This hotel is truly a golfer’s paradise. When you arrive porters take your clubs and shoes and store them in your own private locker in the garage, along with your personal golf buggy. When you want to practise on the driving range or play a round of golf, you simply take the elevator from reception directly to the garage, then hop on to your buggy and drive straight onto the golf course.
There’s plenty to do in Playa de las Américas. While the beaches are a must-do part of your holiday, in the evenings you can also spend time in the many restaurants and bars in the lively town centre. There is nothing quite like waking up and being served a sumptuous breakfast before hopping on a golf cart and driving directly to the first hole. This is a real golf hotel – with its own course, Golf Las Américas – and there is a wealth of benefits for golf fans.
When heading towards the first hole at your guaranteed start time, you’ll instantly feel the thrill of the open course. Looking out across the fairway you’ll see palm trees plus strategically placed sand traps and water hazards.
The course offers challenges for even the most hardcore golfer. If you’re a beginner, however, there’s still plenty to enjoy – it’s not only the guests with elite skills who’ll have a good time.
The practice putting green is very accommodating, and I didn’t run into any trouble while putting in a few extra swings. Golf Las Américas has a very good practice chipping green as well.
Hotel guests receive a host of benefits at Golf Las Américas. There are special monthly promotions, with complimentary golf available during selected months of the year. You can book your tee-times from the hotel desk, and green fees are reduced if you’re staying at Las Madrigueras.
The facilities at the golf club are state-of-the-art and very well maintained. Be sure to check out the golf shop on site. It’s in a league of its own, with lots of top brand clothing and footwear.
You won’t have to venture far to grab anything you might need, as the hotel’s attentive staff are on-hand to cater to your needs. This is a real golf destination, with some of the world’s most celebrated courses within easy reach – what are you waiting for?
