The Spa

InterContinental Cozumel’s Serenity Spa is unique in that it offers an insight into the surrounding culture. World-class treatments have been designed incorporating the Mayan culture, resulting in spa experiences using local ingredients and customs. Ancient ceremonies combined with the latest advances in wellbeing - the perfect marriage of traditional and modern-day concepts. For example, the Mayan Journey is a holistic ritual based on an ancient pilgrimage to the goddess
Ixchel. This 90-minute treatment includes a cleansing smoke ritual, steam bath, waterfall shower, aromatic body massage and milk bath.
Another traditional Mexican ritual is the Temazcal - a small domed structure built to hold in the heat of hot stones. The resulting purifying steam produced by water infused with natural herbs has potent detoxifying qualities, and is recommended for eliminating stress.

Signature Treatments

• Aromatherapy Massage
• Mayan Love Ceremony
• Tropical Lime, Honey and Cucumber Facials (ADS)
• Exotic Coconut Rub and Milk Wrap
• Maya Orange Facial
• The Ultimate Body Treatment
• Mayan Journey™
• Serenity Sea Stone Facial

Things to do

Cozumel is rich in both history and natural wonders. Highlights include the ancient Mayan ruins on the north side of the island and the sanctuary dedicated to the fertility goddess Ixchel at San Gervasio. Island mysteries are unveiled at the Museum of the Island of Cozumel, which exhibits colourful displays about coral reefs and a range of other national treasures.
The Cozumel Marine Reef National Park and Chankanaab Park are a must for nature enthusiasts, along with the jungle trail that leads to the Botanical Gardens. The gardens feature over 300 types of tropical plants from more than 20 countries.
New to the island is Punta Sur, an eco-tourist park where groups can find out about local species, sea turtles, flora and fauna and coral reefs.
