Enjoy a traditional Ukrainian dinner in the Empire restaurant or Sophyiyvskiy ballroom, accompanied by local music and dancing. The hotel can also arrange lunchboxes for picnics in the Pyrogovo open-air museum, where guests can view peasant homes and enjoy folk music concerts.
The hotel’s travel bureau and concierge are on-hand to arrange tours of Kyiv’s landmarks. St Sophia Cathedral, dating from 11th Century, is the city’s pride, featuring ancient Christian frescoes and dominated by a magnificent mosaic, known as the ‘eternal wall of Kyiv.’
The beautiful St. Andrew’s church was built in the 18th Century and dominates the Podil area, home to an impressive souvenir market.
Another landmark in the area is the Kyiv Cave Monastery, dating from 1051. The monastery is a ‘city within a city’ – with squares, cathedrals, bell towers and artifacts on display, and is not to be missed. The monastery runs a number of museums, including the Golden Treasury Museum and the Micro-Miniatures Museum.
