Over the centuries many famous painters, poets and writers have fallen in love with Asolo, among them Robert Browning, Eleonora Duse, the poet Giosue Carducci, the composer Malipiero and the English explorer and writer Freya Stark. Once in Asolo, it isn’t difficult to see why so many people fall in love with its charms. A small medieval walled town, it has retained many of its historic buildings, which boast frescoed facades. Other attractions include boutiques selling antiques, fashion and jewellery pieces. Just a short drive from the hotel, the elegant town of Bassano del Grappa is worth visiting even if it is just to admire the famous bridge designed in the 16th Century. Another historical site that should be included on any itinerary is Villa Barbaro di Maser with its numerous frescoes and a Coach and Carriage Museum. Private tours are available.
