About the hotel

Villa Armena is located in beautiful Tuscany, surrounded by a wealth of history. A creation of the noble Malavolti family in the 16th century, the original villa was designed by one of the best known architects of the Italian Renaissance - Baldassare Peruzzi. Found in the heart of Crete Senesi, an astoundingly attractive area of historical interest, the hotel was originally surrounded by age-old villas, country houses, monasteries and abbeys as well as rows of vineyards stretching for miles. Today you can still stand outside, in the fresh air and under the warm sun and take in the amazing beauty of this Tuscan marvel.

Turned into a hotel after being fully restored, the exclusive boutique property is built of red brick with original oak beams and beautiful terracotta floors. The hotel offers visitors high standards of luxury and service, in line with its heritage and location.

Villa Armena is only 20 minutes away from Siena and a stone’s throw from Montalcino and Val d’Orcia. The original 16th century features combined with stunning scenery create a fairytale world for guests wishing to experience an authentic Tuscan break.

'It seamlessly intertwines 21st century comforts and the original elegance of renaissance Italy.'

Luxury Travel Magazine

'The feel is leisurely, but luxe, with a slow-food restaurant serving house-made ravioli and produce fresh from its own gardens. Eco-enthusiasts will appreciate that the resort is almost entirely self-sufficient.'

Things to do

Located in the heart of the province of Siena, Villa Armena is in one of the most romantic parts of Tuscany.

Indulge in a wine tour of Brunello di Montalcino, the king of Italian wines, a small town on a hill south of Siena. Take a delightful walk through these exquisite vineyards and taste the sweet wines before heading for the spectacular Sant’Antimo abbey - a great example of Romanesque architecture left in Tuscany.

Love art? Take a mini fine arts walk to discover some of Siena’s most precious art treasures. The pulpit of the Duomo Cathedral is stunning, as well as having the chance to see and learn about some real masterpieces. An interesting day can be completed by a bike ride around Chianti, including a visit to the 14th century monastery the Certosa di Pontignano.

The hotel is surrounded by gentle hills, churches and beautiful landscapes, all working together in perfect harmony to create a world of luxury and peace. The hotel believes the surrounding areas have to be seen to be believed and allow guests to really appreciate the Tuscan territory by preparing a series of guided activities and tours.
