About the hotel
The Avalon hotel is one of those well kept secrets that make those in the know just a little smug. It is the only European style boutique hotel in this area, Madison Park district close to the Empire State building and Herald Square, minutes away from Penn Station. Opened in 1998 the hotel is housed in an elegant old office building, mahogany wood panelling and Italian marble floors, in the lobby and library, create a clubby atmosphere. The rooms are spacious for an inner city hotel and the furnishings well finished a luxurious haven from the hustle and bustle of New York City.
