About the hotel

In the heart of Tokyo’s Shinagawa district, a minute’s walk from the train station and surrounded by office buildings, the central garden and the Shinagawa Grand Commons, stands The Strings Hotel; a deluxe destination for the discerning traveller.
Opened in 2003, and affiliated to ANA (All Nippon Airways), The Strings Hotel offers a truly unique experience that begins as you step into the hotel. Guests are beamed up via express elevators to the 26th floor where the 7 story high atrium lobby awaits, high above the Tokyo streets and miles away from the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. Bathed in natural light, a soothing atmosphere greets you as you step out of the elevator and into the lobby. With its pond, stream, olive trees and natural stone and wood, this incorporates a design feel which is reflected throughout the public areas of the hotel.
The hotel’s guest rooms occupy the top six floors, with breathtaking views of the Tokyo skyline, contemporary, stylish designs and high ceilings. Fifty-nine of the guest rooms (including the suites) form part of The Club, a dedicated category of rooms which offer even more breathtaking views and luxury to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as is possible.
Two restaurants offer fine Eastern and Western cuisine, and facilities tailored for meetings, banquets or weddings, a Business centre and a fitness room contribute to making The Strings Hotel the place of choice for those who wish to find a home away from home in Tokyo.

Things to do

As the capital of Japan, Tokyo offers a wealth of attractions for visitors. Discover the wonders of this ancient land's historically rich past and the sights of the present days.
Amongst the sights worth seeing are the Imperial Palace and its Imperial East Garden, the Idemitsu Museum, the Ota Memorial Museum, the Tokyo National Museum and the do-Tokyo Museum, all of which offer visitors insights into different sides of Japanese and Asian art and culture, from Zen to modern art.
Alternatively you can take a trip to Ueno, famous for the spring cherry blossoms, and which boasts a park complete with a zoo, museums, art galleries, a temple and a shrine. Meanwhile, the Meiji Shrine is also worth a visit, featuring over 20,000 trees that were donated from all over Japan. Once there you can visit the Iris Garden and the Treasure House.
Away from the museums and shrines you can wander the Tsukiji Fish Market where you'll enjoy the freshest sushi and witness lively fish auctions.
If it's shopping you're after, a must stop is Ginza, Japan's most famous shopping district, with its long-established and prestigious department stores and shops. The district is filled with side streets and fringed by large and small specialty shops, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as exclusive bars and nightclubs. Or take a stroll down Omotesando, a wide boulevard set in a modern section of Tokyo and fringed by restaurants, coffee shops, small boutiques and specialty shops. Alternatively head to Aoyama Fashionable, a sophisticated uptown section of Tokyo featuring trendy boutiques, such as Comme des Garcons, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Emporio Armani and Sonia Rykiel.
And when the shopping's out of the way you can head to Roppongi, the international entertainment quarter. As the party town of Tokyo, Roppongi offers many nightclubs and is best enjoyed in the evening. For those who are interested in records, the WAVE shop is a must stop.
Lastly you can stroll down to Harumi-dori Avenue which leads from the Ginza district to the Kabukiza Theater where you can enjoy traditional Japanese stage arts such as Kabuki and Noh.
