About the hotel
In 1839 the tiny Laubersche Herberge opened in Zermatt, offering travellers respectable accommodation in its three rooms. In 1855 Alexander Seiler expanded the inn into the Monte Rosa, and since then the hotel has provided the picturesque town with some of its most elegant and luxurious accommodation.
The traditional Swiss design of the bedrooms and public areas enhance the cosy, romantic atmosphere. In winter, when the surrounding mountains are cloaked in a blanket of pristine snow, you can relax after a day’s skiing by the open fireplace in the Salon Bleu. During the summer, stunning views of the flower-clad hillsides can be enjoyed from the terrace and garden. Whatever the season, Zermatt has it all, and the Monte Rosa is the ideal place to experience its unique Swiss charms.

A pretty alpine town nestled at the base of the Matterhorn, Zermatt is Switzerland’s southernmost mountain resort. Surrounded by 38 peaks and enjoying a mild climate with lots of sunshine, Zermatt is a year-round favourite. A car-free zone, this is the ideal place to experience the majesty of the Alps.
Hiking is one of Zermatt’s most popular summer pursuits, with over 400km of hiking paths of all levels in the region. Enjoy a romantic picnic in a lush mountain meadow, or try some summer skiing on the glacial snow at the base of the Matterhorn. Spend a day wandering around the town, enjoying the trendy boutiques, elegant shops and chic cafes.
In winter the region comes alive with ski fanatics and winter sports enthusiasts. The mountains comprise four interconnected ski areas (one in Italy) suitable for all abilities.
