In 1839 the tiny Laubersche Herberge opened in Zermatt, offering travellers respectable accommodation in its three rooms. In 1855 Alexander Seiler expanded the inn into the Monte Rosa, and since then the hotel has provided the picturesque town with some of its most elegant and luxurious accommodation. The traditional Swiss design of the bedrooms and public areas enhance the cosy, romantic atmosphere. In winter, when the surrounding mountains are cloaked in a blanket of pristine snow, you can relax after a day’s skiing by the open fireplace in the Salon Bleu. During the summer, stunning views of the flower-clad hillsides can be enjoyed from the terrace and garden. Whatever the season, Zermatt has it all, and the Monte Rosa is the ideal place to experience its unique Swiss charms.
