The hotel provides a relaxed and comfortable style, with a cosy atmosphere. The rooms have the unique fusion of modern luxury with the flair of a medieval castle - true historic charm.
The suites are particularly opulent, leaving no wish unfulfilled. The interiors successfully blend traditional forms with modern comfort. The idyllic Waldhotel forshaus (forester's lodge), set in the woods some 300m from the Parkhotel Schloss Meisdorf, offers individuality and quiet in its 11 luxuriously appointed rooms. The hotel also offers an elegant breakfast restaurant and a comfortable sun terrace.
The Altes Schloss restaurant has an unmistakable ambience. The cuisine ranges from local Harz dishes to international specialities. For larger groups, or even parties, the historic music room is ideal. The room can hold up to 130 people, and has an incredible atmosphere. Relax and see the day out in the Sailor’s Inn hotel bar. Forge new relationships or simply review the day when it opens on Friday and Saturday.
For lighter meals or snacks, the terrace is just right. Looking out over the stunning scenery, the terrace provides the perfect balance between the gourmet cooking of the restaurant and the drinks and bar snacks of the Sailor’s Inn.
The nature park Selketal is where Harz begins. Enjoy this unique landscape mixed from medieval buildings and the idyllic green region in the Harz. The highest mountain range in Harz is Der Brocken, only 64 km away from the hotel. These beautiful and awe-inspiring landscapes are well worth a visit.
There are 6 lovely cities nearby the resort, all of which the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from. The top one to visit is perhaps the city of Quedlingburg, only 15 km away. In the centre of the town a vast number of half-timbered buildings from at least five different centuries are to be found (including a 14th century structure, one of the oldest in Germany), while around the outer fringes of the old town there are wonderful examples of Jugendstil buildings, dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The castle and the cathedral still tower above the city just as they dominated the town in early Middle Ages. The cathedral is a prime example of German Romanesque style. The Domschatz, the treasure containing ancient artefacts and books, was stolen by an American soldier and finally bought back to Quedlinburg in 1993 and is again on display here.
