With its central location the Royal Olympic is ideal for discovering Athens.
In front of the hotel is the archaeological site of the temple of Zeus. The Acropolis and its brand new Museum, as well as the Ancient Agora, are just five minutes away. In the opposite direction, about 5 minutes' walk, is the Kallimarmaro stadium, where the 1st Olympics of the Modern Era were held.
Ten minutes' walk or one metro station away is the city-centre and Constitution square (Syntagma Square in Greek, where you can visit the Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier), the National Gardens and the main Athens avenues Stadiou, Panepistimiou and Akadimias, where you will find Museums, Universities and more.
If you are more interested in shopping, you have the commercial area of Ermou street, starting right under the Constitution square, where you will find all kinds of boutiques, megastores and cafes.
Between the hotel and the Ermou street area you can have a walk in the historical part of Plaka and Monastriraki for a taste of traditional Athens with little streets, souvenir shops and a wide range of traditional tavernas.
If you want to have a drink at night in some trendy bar or to listen to live music, you have the areas of Psirri, Thissio and Gazi to chose from, all of which are 3 to 4 metro stations from the hotel or 15 minutes by walk.
If you are fond of culture, visit the National Archaeological Museum or Athens’ Music Hall. Be sure to also visit the Lycabettus Hill from where you have the highest view in the centre of Athens: you will be able to see the whole city as well as the port of Piraeus, the Aegean sea and the first islands.
