The Oberoi Vanyavilas is India’s first luxury jungle resort, located adjacent to the world-famous Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. It is situated in 20 acres of orchards, beautifully landscaped gardens and a meandering watercourse. This exclusive hotel is the ideal place for both relaxation and adventure. The overall ambience provides a perfect contrast to the rugged adventure that awaits in the jungle. The resort is closed from July to September.

The Observation tower offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the adjoining reserve. Other facilities include a swimming pool, heated in the winter, a billiards room as well as a library with a range of DVDs. The fitness tent features a sophisticated range of equipment. After an adventurous day at the Tiger Reserve, the Spa, managed by Banyan Tree, is just the place to rejuvenate mind, body and soul. All the private therapy suites offer a soothing and serene atmosphere in which to enjoy a mix of treatments by trained therapists.

Room options

Accommodation consists of 25 luxury air-conditioned tents, each of which is located discreetly within a picturesque private walled garden. These spacious tents have beautifully appointed interiors and outdoor decks for sunbathing. Large, luxurious bathrooms feature a freestanding tub, separate shower stall and double vanity counters.

Dining

The resort’s dining options include an air-conditioned restaurant that serves tempting speciality Indian dishes and international cuisine. There is an outdoor walled courtyard for alfresco dining complete with a log fire pit, providing the perfect ambience under a starry winter sky. The resort also features a bar and lounge, offering an excellent selection of fine spirits, cigars and various books on wildlife.

Things to Do & Local Attractions

Ranthambhore is home to the majestic tiger as well as a variety of leopards, deer, crocodiles and exotic birds. Guests can enjoy watching these animals in their natural habitat. Ranthambhore Fort is open from dawn till dusk and is the perfect location for bird-watching. It is worth combining a trip to the fort with a stop at the nearby Ganesha Temple. The Jogi Mahal forest rest house commands a stunning view of Lotus Lake on one side, and the ramparts of Ranthambhore Fort on the other.

There are direct rail and road links from Jaipur to Ranthambhore, with a travel time of about three hours. The hotel can organise chauffeur-driven cars for transfers from Jaipur. Jaipur Airport has frequent flight connections from Delhi and Mumbai. Flying time from Delhi and Mumbai Airports to Jaipur is 30 minutes and 95 minutes respectively.

All the private therapy suites offer a soothing and serene atmosphere in which to enjoy a mix of treatments by trained therapists. The Oberoi Massage, one of the signature treatments, involves the use of palms and fingertips to apply pressure. Continuous, rhythmic strokes stimulate blood circulation. Drawing upon the best of eastern and western techniques, the stress-relieving massage combines soothing strokes and gentle stretching to loosen muscular tension as well as encourage lymphatic flow. The Marma Chikitsa is a healing massage that uses specialised pressure point techniques on the body’s energy gateways – both the palms and soles. This massage is carried out using warm herbal oil.
