Kalyon Hotel is located in the centre of the peninsula of Istanbul on the shores of the Marmara Sea. The city’s most important historical monuments are within walking distance of the hotel. Hagia Sophia is a must-see for any visitor – it was built as a church in AD537, converted into a mosque in the 15th Century, and is now a museum.
For nearly 400 years Topkapi Palace was the seat of the Ottoman Empire, and guided tours can be taken around its churches, harem, and baths.
Visitors to Istanbul must be sure to visit the Blue Mosque. One of the most beautiful sights in the city, this mosque was built in the 17th Century. The hotel can arrange a sightseeing tour incorporating a visit to all the above attractions as well as the Grand Bazaar. Lunch is served in the gardens of the palace, followed by a visit to Dolmabahce Palace, a boat cruise on the Bosphorus, and a trip to Camlica Hill to enjoy the views of Istanbul.
