About the hotel

Originally built in 1902 as the North British Hotel, the Balmoral has provided elegant and sophisticated accommodation in Edinburgh for over a century. The building’s distinctive clock tower is a landmark in the city, and as the hotel is adjacent to the main railway station, the clock is traditionally set two minutes fast to ensure that people don’t miss their trains.
Located on Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main shopping area, and overlooking the castle, the Balmoral is the perfect place to stay on your Scottish break. The hotel has been decorated stylishly throughout with traditional Scottish touches, and the original Edwardian design has been kept, evoking an atmosphere of history and nobility.
