Hotel Monna Lisa is a cultural destination in itself. Part of the building dates from the 13th century and is believed to have originally been a convent or place of prayer.
St Filipo Neri was born there, after his family acquired the building in the 16th century. His portrait hangs behind the hotel bar, a reminder of the site’s rich history.
The building went through more changes before being bought by the Ciardi Dupré family, whose personal collection of art and antiques adorns many of the bedrooms and salons. The floors of the hotel are set in original 16th-century cotto Fiorentino stone work, while the wooden ceilings in parts of the building also date from the same period.
The lobby desk is an original 16th-century confessional and some of the furniture dates from the 15th century. Step into Hotel Monna Lisa, and step back in time.
