About Shangri-La Hotel Sydney
The Shangri La hotel in Sydney enjoys a superb location in Australia’s premier city with views over the harbour to the bridge and world famous Opera House. Built in the Rocks district, the colonial birthplace of the city, with its maze of narrow streets full of quaint sandstone cottages, shops, restaurants and trendy bars it is also within walking distance of the all the major sites. The contemporary design of the hotel takes full advantage of the iconic views with huge windows; light pours in during the day and at night the majestically lit white ‘sails’ of the Opera house gleam in the darkness amongst the twinkling harbour lights. The magnificent setting along with the excellent and attentive personal service makes a visit here a truly luxurious experience.

Things to do in Sydney
On the doorstep of the hotel is the Rocks district which has recently undergone something of a metamorphosis, transformed into a vibrant pocket of cafes, restaurants, shops and stalls, sometimes described as Sydney’s ‘outdoor museum’ most activities here centre around walking, looking and eating. The excellent Museum of Contemporary Art is also in this area. Sydney has a reputation as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and one of the best ways to see it is the panoramic view from the top of the Sydney Tower, 250 metres above street level, or, for the more adventurous, take a guided 3 hour climb up to the top of the Harbour Bridge. The magnificent harbour can also be explored on the water, starting from nearby Circular Quay, there are numerous day and night cruises or yachts to charter to find more out of the way places for a picnic. Out of the city there are the famous wineries of the Hunter Valley and the beautiful Blue Mountains.
Getting to Shangri-La Hotel Sydney
